DVB-H Video Wall / Monitor

SAMitor is a feature-rich mosaic wall for rendering versatile inputs such as video, audio and status images into a joint monitor window.

SAMitor supports a wide range of video codecs, audio codecs and image formats.

The number of tiles displayed within the monitor window is only limited by the memory and CPU resources of the machine where it is running on.

Using SAMcorder the SAMitor mosaic wall can get its inputs from various interfaces, such as live RF reception, live ASI inputs, live IP network inputs and from recorded transport stream files.

So any use case gets covered.

SAMitor is a nice mosaic wall for rendering various video, audio and image formats simultaneously, thereby providing comprehensive features for realtime video/audio transcoding, video/audio streaming and SNMP based monitoring of video and audio services.

Key Attributes:
  • simultaneous playback of DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-S2 and DVB-H video and audio services, also arbitrarily mixed
  • support of all video and audio formats used in these broadcast technologies (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264...)
  • comprehensive realtime transcoding and streaming features for seamless streaming of regional DVB programs over network at a low bandwidth into a remote operation and monitoring center for visual monitoring
  • support for regular TV image snapshot creation and streaming (provides visual monitoring at ultra-low bandwidth)
  • recognizes video loss, audio loss and audio silence, thereby enabling SNMP based monitoring of these parameters on AV layer
  • provides audio bars for visual monitoring of audio channels
  • adjustable number of monitor columns and tiles
  • adjustable monitor sizes to optimal fit to the available screen size
  • automatic re-synchronization in case of signal loss
  • support of several media libraries (VLC, Quicktime)
  • close interaction with SAMcorder and SAMesg for easy setup of the SDP settings in case of DVB-H/H.264
  • support of IP multicast
  • Recording single A/V services (MPEG-TS encapsulation)

SAMitor in action

In this example SAMcorder performs de-multiplexing of the DVB-H programs,
ISMAcryp descrambling of all programs and IP streaming of all programs to SAMitor
for playback of the now unencrypted TV and Audio services
for visual monitoring and further processing, such as transcoding.

SAMitor showing status images for monitoring purposes
SAMitor's transcoding and streaming features permit to send high-bandwidth TV programs transcoded into low-bandwidth programs (at reduced video/audio resolution) into a remote operation center for visual monitoring and audio listening of the actual remotely broadcasted content.

Additionally regularly updated status visualizations like graphical representations of RF measurements such as Constellation and Channel impulse Response graphs can be displayed in the wall for monitoring such parameters at one glance.
