SAMager Console is an SNMP enabled front-end for performing configuration and monitoring tasks via SNMP.
It is intended for operators who do not have a suited NMS for controlling and configuration of remote monitoring probes and for retrieving and visualizing SNMP TRAPs
in a comfortable manner.
Operators who already have a suited NMS can integrate the decontis monitoring SNMP MIB right into their existing NMS. For those operators the SAMager Console is not required,
they can use their existing NMS instead.
- SNMP Client functionality
- support of SNMPv1 and SNMPv2
- supports the comprehensive decontis MIB for all monitoring and configuration tasks
- can be used for configuration of all remote probes
- can be used for receiving TRAPs sent by all remote probes
- provides an aggregated view on the different monitoring layers
- provides an aggregated view on the current monitoring state of all remote probes at one glance
- visualizes error and warning conditions
- can be used to query the current value of every monitored parameter on every remote probe
SAMager Console monitoring example
As illustrated in the figure above, the SAMager Console application receives the monitoring results via SNMP from all remote monitoring probes ( SAM-MT 200 or SAM-MT 220) and provides an aggregated view on each probe.
So the current status of the broadcast at every monitoring location gets displayed at one glance.
Since the SAMager Agent supports simultaneous communication with several SNMP clients, the current status of every probe can be reported to several destinations at the same time. So monitoring the network can take
place simultaneously at different locations.

SAMager Console Operation |
SAMager Console - Control Window
The SAMager Console Control Window provides various information at one glance:
- aggregated view of all monitored parameters of all remote probes
- status LEDs of all major monitoring parameter groups
- self-definable status LEDs of any monitoring parameters in order to monitor customer specific key parameters at one glance
- display of various probe specific information such as current TRAP, warning and error counters...
- permanent heartbeat supervision of all remote probes in order to detect outages immediately (e.g. caused by a broken internet connection)
SAMager Console - Main Window
The SAMager Console Main Window provides various features:
- receives the SNMP TRAPs sent by the remote probes, shows the TRAP contents and visualizes them in the Control Window
- allows to control and configure every remote probe via SNMP
- supports the entire, comprehensive decontis SNMP MIB with more than 500 SNMP operations and traps for DVB-H and DVB-T monitoring
- supports SNMPv2 GET, GET NEXT, GET BULK, SET and TRAP
