decontis released its trailblazing analysis and monitoring solution atscSAM in version 2

1. atscSAM - new major features

- Signal Quality Analysis  +  Signal Error Corrections

atscSAM v2 now implements several additional error detection and error correction algorithms based on the PCCC, SCCC and Reed-Solomon algorithms used in the M/H transmission layer.

These algorithms have been optimized so that atscSAM can perform them simultaneously on all M/H Parades within a broadcast/multiplex on standard PC hardware.

This greatly increases the reliability of the signal quality information, already available through the hundreds of objects included in prior versions of atscSAM's SNMP based monitoring.

The existing features of atscSAM - such as simultaneous playback of all TV services within a multiplex upon a mosaic wall - take advantage of this new error correction, which improves the video quality for Mobile DTV significantly under poor reception conditions.

See a video example how it works (Flash player required).

- Support for scrambled content incl. Descrambling

atscSAM v2 now performs analysis and monitoring on scrambled ATSC-M/H content, such as monitoring the IPsec bitrate, the ESP SPI update interval and the ESP sequence counter continuity. This is useful for monitoring of scrambled channels for which no descrambling key is available.

atscSAM v2 also supports live descrambling of all scrambled TV channels within a multiplex, provided the required service encryption keys are configured within the atscSAM settings. atscSAM provides a GUI where the appropriate keys can be conveniently configured. Once service keys for TV channels are configured, atscSAM extracts the traffic encryption keys from the key stream within the multiplex and performs descrambling of the TV channels. In this way, both scrambled and non scrambled multiplexes can be monitored both visually and via SNMP. This allows for AV monitoring features such as video freeze detection on scrambled TV channels.

atscSAM v2 also includes also a new component that makes integration with a CAS provider very simple. Using this component atscSAM obtains the required service encryption keys directly from the Conditional Access System, enabling automatic monitoring of hundreds of parameters of the broadcast 24/7 without any manual key configuration. This interface prevents disclosure of the service encryption keys providing maximum security, coupled with the confidence that your scrambled and clear broadcasts receive the same comprehensive monitoring.

Finally, decontis is pleased to report that The Mobile Content Venture (MCV) an association of major US broadcasters, including NBC, Fox, Pearl LLC and ION, has chosen atscSAM for the country-wide monitoring of all MCV Mobile DTV stations. The decontis software, including the new CAS component, will be installed in monitoring probes provided to the MCV stations by Acrodyne Services, decontis' North American distributor.
