Today decontis released both its new dvbSAM version 4.0 and its new SAM-MT 400, the leading solution for SNMP based monitoring of DVB networks. Both products are available now.

Beside other new features, dvbSAM v4 now supports also the Conditional Access layer, permitting in-depth analysis of encrypted DVB-H multiplexes up to the display of encrypted video services using an ISMAcryp capable media library. Many further new features and components have been introduced (see below for more details).

SAM-MT 400 - SNMP based DVB Monitoring

The SAM-MT 400 provides SNMP based real-time monitoring for DVB-H, DVB-T, DVB-S and DVB-S2 on all technical layers, i.e.:
  • RF layer
  • MPEG-2 layer
  • MPE layer
  • IP layer
  • RTP layer
  • FLUTE layer
  • ESG layer
  • Audio/Video layer
  • Conditional Access layer

It provides various RF, ASI and IP interfaces, provides many outstanding monitoring features and includes a comprehensive SNMP MIB consisting of almost 800(!) SNMP operations and TRAPs.
See the SAM-MT 400 Feature Matrix and compare with other DVB monitoring solutions by yourself...

The SAM-MT 400 has been designed for unattended 24/7 monitoring.

It provides very versatile and detailed configuration possibilities in order to fit also into complex monitoring environments.

For the operator a very comfortable and intuitive SNMP client is available for both administration and real-time status visualization of all probes in the monitoring network.

SAM-MT 400 is capable to monitor up to 8(!) DVB multiplexes continuously and simultaneously on all above mentioned layers - all within a single 19" 1RU device!

Both the outstanding monitoring features incl. the superb SNMP MIB and the possibility to monitor up to eight channels continuously and simultaneously (also DVB-H, DVB-T, DVB-S and DVB-S2 multiplexes arbitrarily mixed) make the SAM-MT 400 future-proof - if one more channel needs to be monitored, just do it with the same device...

For getting a live demonstration of the SAM-MT 400 and the SNMP client please send an email to sammt400@decontis.com and shortly describe your prospective use case.

decontis will exhibit the SAM-MT 400 also at the IBC 2009 at decontis' booth M201 in the Mobile Zone in the RAI Elicium Building. Schedule a meeting with decontis by sending an email to ibc2009@decontis.com.

dvbSAM v4.0

dvbSAM version 4 introduces new features and new components to dvbSAM.

Some of the new features are:
  • SAMbera IP analysis now performs operations on the Conditional Access layer, e.g.:
    • automatic detection of key message streams (interworking with SAMesg)
    • real-time analysis of all OMA BCAST DRM & OMA BCAST SCP short term key messages
    • decoding and visualization of these key messages up to the last bit
    • authentication of key stream messages
    • using configured SEK and Seed values real-time decryption of all TEKs
    • streaming of decrypted TEKs and encrypted content to ISMAcryp capable descrambler/decoder, thereby displaying all previously encrypted services in a monitor wall for visual monitoring
  • dvbSAM components can now alternatively interact via Pipes instead of IP/UDP/TCP sockets, which avoids IP port conflicts if several services allocate identical IPs and ports.
BTW: this feature enables the SAM-MT 400 to simultaneously monitor also multiplexes which allocate the same IP ressources.
  • along with suited RF receivers the SAMcorder RF analysis now also plots real-time graphs for constellation and channel impulse response
  • measurement of PID, Program and IP/Port bitrates for all PIDs, Programs and IP/Ports simultaneously
  • support of Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • there are much more new features in the existing components. See our website for more details...

New components have also been introduced with dvbSAM version 4.0. There are:
  • completely new developed SAMager Console:
    • acts as SNMP client
    • provides intuitive and comfortable GUI for SNMP based monitoring for the operator or engineer
    • provides administration and status query interface to all SAM-MT 400 probes in the monitoring network
    • assisted and comfortable access to the comprehensive SNMP MIB consisting of almost 800 SNMP operations and TRAPs
    • probe grouping into regions and clusters for joint SNMP access to entire clusters and regions
    • number of administered probes not limited
    • SNMP access is possible to particular probes, to entire clusters, entire regions and the entire monitoring network, making re-configuration of a large number of probes quick and easy, thereby reducing OA&M costs
    • GUI assisted creation of individual SNMP scripts
    • real-time status visualization of all probes at one glance in a status window as well as in a geographic map
  • completely new developed SAMbuddy:
    • connects 3rd party solutions efficiently to dvbSAM
    • allows seamless extension of dvbSAMs feature set by arbitrary external applications without sacrificing the stability and robustness of the base system
    • currently SAMbuddy attaches an external, ISMAcryp capable video solution to dvbSAM
    • if you want to have an own solution to be attached to dvbSAM then please email to sambuddy@decontis.com, describing your prospective use case.
